Penhayl Penhayl was once the studio of Arthur Meade, one of the original St. Ives Society of Artists. It is the ideal location for an ornithological, walking or a painting holiday, taking advantage of the unique reflected light.

There is a large, well furnished lounge overlooking the sea, with dining area. Leisure time facilities include large freeview television with a DVD player/recorder, CD and radio, and a number of board games. There is a lawn overlooking the sea, a patio with garden furniture, a barbeque and a single garage and parking for an additional car.

The well-appointed all-electric kitchen contains an electric cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and freezer.

There are two large well fitted bedrooms, one en-suite with king-size bed, and a twin with adjacent bathroom.

Special Breaks

In addition to our standard one-week bookings, we are offering three-night themed breaks in the months of November, February and March.

Bird-Watcher and Garden Visit Special Breaks

We will continue to offer our 3 Night Bird Watcher and Garden Visit Special Breaks for up to 4 adults at the inclusive price of £250 in November, February and March. These are great months for rare bird spotting. We supply information about the best places to go to bird watch, including the daily Rare-Bird Alert information.

They are also good months in which to visit the exotic gardens that have early blooms. This area is well-known for its gardens with plants from the southern hemisphere. It is also a quiet time of the year to visit the Eden Project with its bio-domes full of plants from around the world. We supply information about the gardens that are open in these months and also details of the main specialist exotic plant growers, should you wish to take some home with you.

Culture and Heritage Breaks in November, February & March

We are still offering 3 night breaks for up to 4 adults for £250. We supply information about the opening times and what there is to see at the various museums and art galleries. In this area we are lucky to have a good selection of art galleries and museums.

Note: If you are planning an out of season visit and intend to visit National Trust Houses, the houses usually close at the end of October and each has a slightly different opening time in the Spring.

Should you wish to visit Cornish National Trust properties at any time in the year, please be aware that Godolphin House is only open on very few dates in the months February — October, but is closed throughout August. Please ask us for a list of the open days.

Getting Around

There is an excellent bus service from Lelant all year round to St. Ives, Hayle, Penzance, St. Just and even Truro. In summer an open top bus runs on a circular route via St. Ives, St. Just, Sennan Cove, Land's End, and Penzance. This is the best way to view the Penwith scenery. The main line railway station is at St. Erth, and for evening visits to St. Ives, Lelant Village Station is just five minutes walk away.

If you have problems playing these, we recommend trying VLC Media Player, which is free, plays almost all video formats, and works on almost all computers.
